Kayla and Maya, A Family for Every Child

Tacoma family photographer, senior, wedding, photoThere’s no doubt about it, fall is the best time for photo sessions! I especially love family sessions in the fall. I kicked off this fall season with a very special family session!  I recently blogged about my beginning to volunteer as a photographer for A Family For Every Child. I had the opportunity to do so again. This time was a sibling session with two teenage sisters, Kayla & Maya.

This girls were full of energy and lots of fun. Both of them most definitely have a fun sense of humor, and I enjoyed our time together. You can see photos from our session and ready more about Kayla and Maya on their bio page, here.

The sisters are currently in foster care and looking to find their forever family. I am sure they will bring lots of joy and fun memories to that special family that’s out there for them.

A Family For Every Child works hard to find loving, adoptable homes for children waiting in foster care. Kayla and Maya are on that list. It’s our hope that these photos will help convey the girls’ personality and fun spirit, to give potential forever families a glimpse into who they are.

Chris | 2014 Curtis High Senior | Session at Chambers Bay

This was a fun session! Chris brought his girlfriend along on his senior session and I am so glad that he did! They are so super cute together I had to include her in some shots. I could have done an entire second session with just them as a couple, they are so dang adorable!! It was great getting to know Chris and hearing about his plans after high school. He was also part of the Curtis High School basketball team that won state last year!! How exciting is that?! Thanks for making this another great senior session, Chris!

Sunset Senior Session with a Samoan Twist! Renton, WA

It’s been so great getting to know this girl over the summer! Jackie is a Class of 2014 Senior at Renton High School. This girl can model! I can barely take credit for these shots! I have never worked with someone that didn’t need any directing on poses and getting natural shots in front of the camera. I pretty much just had to show up and she took care of the rest! …well, okay not exactly, but still, she ROCKED IT!

We did both a regular senior session with her everyday clothes and adorable bubbly self, and we included two cultural looks to honor her Samoan heritage. We also made a super fun video! I just loved this shoot. Enjoy!! JP Photography (32).jpg

I LOVE Family Photography Sessions at the Puyallup Fair!

It’s baaaaack! One of my very favorite places to shoot at… The Puyallup Fair! Oh man, there’s so much photography goodness about the fair! It’s a great place to capture kiddos having a blast and being themselves, couples snuggling up all cute and cozy on the ferris wheel, and I love the all the bold colors everywhere for high school senior sessions!

My husband and I went this week and I was quickly reminded of everything I love about shooting there. Here’s a couple quick iphone shots of my husband and I “doing the Puyallup” this week, followed by some professional images from one of my favorite family sessions there last fall.

If you’d like to schedule a session with JP Photography at the fair this year, contact me ASAP! jennifer@jpphotographyonline.com

A Family For Every Child, WA State // Volunteer Photographer

I have been trying to figure out for a while now the best way to combine my passions for photography and helping others. I’ve donated plenty of sessions in the past, but aside from giving away free photos it doesn’t really feel like it helps anyone. Well, I am very excited to say that I have found a way to do this that seems to be my perfect fit for helping others through photography. Actually… I have found and started doing this in three totally different ways, but for now I am only going to tell you about one ;)

And here’s a really dorky action shot of me doing my thing  :)

If you haven’t heard of A Family For Every Child, check them out! They are a non-profit serving Washington and Oregon. Their mission is to find loving adoptable homes for children waiting in foster care. They have volunteer opportunities nationwide which is a huge support in doing all the great work that they do.

Last week I had the opportunity to be a volunteer photographer with them!  The Heart Gallery  is their program that works with professional photographers to take photos of children that are waiting to be adopted. These photos will be used on website, fliers, and bios about them to show them in a positive light and illustrate a little glimpse into their personality.

I love to make these sessions into a fun activity and capture them being themselves. It was great to spend some time with David last week, learn about his interests and get some fun photos! Click here: to check out David’s bio including some photos from our session! David is a friendly and easy-going guy, we had a great time!

I’m so happy to have connected with A Family For Every Child and am excited for next time!
