Franklin Falls | An Icy Adventure! | North Bend, WA

One of our first adventures of 2015 was a snowy hike to Franklin Falls! This was a hike we’ve been waiting to do for a couple of years. We wanted to go when it was frozen over and the conditions we just right.  Finally, we had freezing temps for several days in a row, and Zach (husband) and I both had the day off, it all came together perfectly! It was a great day and as beautiful as we hoped it would be.

The greatness came to an end however, when I realized later that night that I left my hiking boots in the parking lot at the trailhead. I was so sad and mad at myself for making a careless mistake! Those boots and I had covered many miles together, even to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro! Plus, they wouldn’t be cheap to replace! I was sure they were gone and there was no point in going back for them. As a last attempt I posted on the Washington Trails Association site, Facebook, Instagram, and Craigslist, asking anybody who found them to please contact me.

The week went by, and while I receive several “sorry, didn’t see your boots” responses, I heard nothing otherwise. Probably 10 days later I received an email from a couple in Seattle saying that they found my boots under a foot of snow!!! The girlfriend was thrilled to find them as they fit her perfectly (and they are awesome boots ;) But her boyfriend saw my post on WTA and they decided that the right thing to do was to contact me. That following weekend I went up to the bookstore in Seattle where he works and picked up my boots in exchange for a gift card to the coffee shop across the street. He was so surprised and excited to receive the gift card and I was so appreciative that he went out of his way to help me! It was clear that having the opportunity share this kindness with each other truly brightened both of our days!

As bummed as I was about losing my boots, I am glad for the experience. It was refreshing to see the kindness of a stranger, and inspiring to think about ways we can share kindness with others each day.

Top PNW Adventures of 2014!

Looking back on 2014 I’m realizing just how Pacific Northwest obsessed I really am! This year kept me very busy with work, volunteering, and community projects – all of which I am thankful for, but sometimes I worried that I was missing out on quality time with those I love. It’s nice to look back and see that I had so many opportunities to do what I love most, adventure with my family and friends in the PNW and beyond!

Below is a slideshow of my favorite adventures of 2014. Names and locations are included if you’d like to explore these places as well!  HINT: To flip through the photos manually, hover over the photo to reveal the arrow buttons :)

A Parsons Family Adventure In The Snow!

This weekend my husband’s parents came down to visit for his birthday. We woke up to a very snowy Pacific Northwest morning on Sunday, and decided to head outside for a little adventure before they headed back home. Griffin, our son (a 5 month-old puppy) was very excited to be spending the weekend with his BFF, Josie the black lab (my sister-in-law? : ) who joined Zach’s parents on their visit to Tacoma!

It was a beautiful adventure and a great time! JP Photography (3).jpg

Sunset Senior Session with a Samoan Twist! Renton, WA

It’s been so great getting to know this girl over the summer! Jackie is a Class of 2014 Senior at Renton High School. This girl can model! I can barely take credit for these shots! I have never worked with someone that didn’t need any directing on poses and getting natural shots in front of the camera. I pretty much just had to show up and she took care of the rest! …well, okay not exactly, but still, she ROCKED IT!

We did both a regular senior session with her everyday clothes and adorable bubbly self, and we included two cultural looks to honor her Samoan heritage. We also made a super fun video! I just loved this shoot. Enjoy!! JP Photography (32).jpg

I LOVE Family Photography Sessions at the Puyallup Fair!

It’s baaaaack! One of my very favorite places to shoot at… The Puyallup Fair! Oh man, there’s so much photography goodness about the fair! It’s a great place to capture kiddos having a blast and being themselves, couples snuggling up all cute and cozy on the ferris wheel, and I love the all the bold colors everywhere for high school senior sessions!

My husband and I went this week and I was quickly reminded of everything I love about shooting there. Here’s a couple quick iphone shots of my husband and I “doing the Puyallup” this week, followed by some professional images from one of my favorite family sessions there last fall.

If you’d like to schedule a session with JP Photography at the fair this year, contact me ASAP! jennifer@jpphotographyonline.com
